back to Studio

For John, architecture is a convergence of disciplines. Between and during education at The Cooper Union School of Architecture, he worked for sculptors, structural engineers, general contractors, and architects. In 1988 he received a Bachelor of Architecture, a Fellowship (Seminar for Younger Poets, Bucknell University), and an Academy of American Poets Poetry Prize. John apprenticed at a NYC architecture firm where he earned his license in 1992. Soon afterward he established his own practice and transplanted to the Pacific Northwest where he has served as an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Oregon and has jointly founded rhiza A+D. He pursues architecture as a physical, collaborative, and poetic endeavor.
