Proposal for a sculpture series along NW Minnesota Ave in Downtown Bend, OR. 2003
We proposed three sculptures to be located along Bends central downtown avenue. The first sculpture, located at the eastern end of the street references geode and fossil forms to create a gateway to the desert beyond. Mid-street the second sculptures rises vertically as a volcanic outcropping to hold an illuminated resin cast rattlesnake rattle. The third sculpture is located at the western terminus of the street ending in a narrow alley. Inspired by the smooth arc of a Salmons belly the sculpture is formed in laminated glass with its “scales” kinetically activated by the alleys wind to frame views of the Deschutes River beyond.
